Islamabad Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has called on the federal government to immediately abolish the petroleum levy saying the government is burdening the poor and middle class while favoring a privileged segment of society. Addressing a press conference Hafiz Naeem said the government should set its priorities right before Jamaat e islami launches a nationwide Government Gherao (siege) movement. He also stated that the price of bread should not exceed Rs10 stressing that ordinary citizens should not be forced to bear the burden of rising inflation. Hafiz Naeem announced that Jamaat e Islami would begin simultaneous protests across all four provinces. He warned that if the government continued to play with the people's interests it would have to face the consequences. He further cautioned that the campaign demanding a reduction in fuel prices could escalate into a full fledged Government Gherao movement if the government's policies remain unchanged. #alnoornews
