Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry has said that all three phases of the Azad Kashmir elections have been completed, with the Pakistan Muslim League (N) securing a clear majority. In a statement, Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said that by the end of the third phase, PML-N had won 24 seats. Under the seat allocation formula, the party will also receive three reserved seats for women and three other reserved seats. He explained that these reserved seats include those for overseas Kashmiris, technocrats, and Ulema & Mashaikh, bringing PML-N’s total strength in the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly to 30 seats. He further announced that the AJK Legislative Assembly will be convened next week, where newly elected members will take the oath, followed by elections for the reserved seats. The federal minister added that the elections for the Speaker and the Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir will also be completed next week. He emphasized that a stable and strong government is set to be formed in Azad Kashmir, saying that the current situation makes such a government essential. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry also stated that the elections across Azad Jammu and Kashmir were free, fair, and credible.
