🟣 PM Shehbaz Sharif Says Talks on Refugee Seats Will Resume After Formation of New Government in Kashmir Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that negotiations over the seats reserved for refugees will resume after the formation of a new government in Kashmir. According to the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP), Shehbaz Sharif made these remarks while addressing a meeting of the federal cabinet. It is pertinent to note that the banned Joint Awami Action Committee in Kashmir has been demanding the abolition of the 12 seats reserved for refugees settled in Pakistan in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly. The demand led to protests and contributed to heightened tensions in the region. According to APP, Shehbaz Sharif told the cabinet meeting that certain elements in Pakistan-administered Kashmir had “deliberately attempted to create unrest.” APP quoted the prime minister as saying: “It was proposed that the issue of refugee seats should be taken before the newly elected assembly after the elections, and whatever decision is made by the majority in accordance with the Constitution and law would be accepted.” The prime minister further said: “Everything had been settled, but they (the banned Joint Awami Action Committee) remained adamant. Unnecessary insistence led to the situation deteriorating.” Shehbaz Sharif said that after the elections, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had emerged as the largest party, and “the process of negotiations will move forward after the new government comes into being.” He added that anyone who wishes to discuss matters through “peace, patience and tolerance” will be given an opportunity to do so by the new government. #alnoornews #ajknews #awamiactioncommittee #highlightseveryone
